A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a car mounted a pavement and struck a woman.
The woman suffered "life-changing injuries" when she was hit by a silver Volkswagen Polo on Chanterlands Avenue, Hull, shortly before 07:30 BST on Wednesday, Humberside Police said.
Laurance Worvill, 50, of Spring Bank, Hull, also faces charges of driving while disqualified, driving without insurance, possession of a weapon in a public place and harassment.
At a hearing before Hull Magistrates' Court earlier, Worvill was remanded into custody to appear at Hull Crown Court on 10 June.
